Map of Mexico and California

Cartography:

Julius Hutawa was a lithographer and printer based out of St. Louis, Missouri. He specialized in making maps for western travelers and explorers, and this map was originally offered as a supplement to the St. Louis Missouri Republican as a supplement. The map is largely based on the explorations of Fremont in 1847, and includes the exploration routes taken by Smith, Gregg, Kearney, Cooke and Lewis and Clark. The Oregon, Santa Fe, and Old Spanish trails are marked also.
